The ZAFTAs
The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTAs), modelled after the prestigious Oscars, are the premier event celebrating excellence in Zimbabwe’s film and television industry. Organized by the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, the ZAFTAs feature a judging system to determine winners. The nationally televised ceremony boasts a red carpet, live performances, speeches, and the presentation of awards, promoting Zimbabwean film and talent while contributing to the cultural legacy of the industry.
Academy of Motion Pictures
The Academy of Motion Pictures (AMP) recognizes excellence, advocates for the industry, and provides education and training for filmmakers. It fosters collaboration, promotes industry standards, and engages with the public through events and outreach. It aims to elevate Zimbabwe’s film and television landscape, placing it on the global stage. It welcomes filmmakers, broadcasters, academics, and industry professionals to join its mission.
Zimflix Conversations
Zimflix Conversations is a WhatsApp group run by the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, connecting over 550 filmmakers across Zimbabwe and beyond. It’s a virtual town hall where young and established filmmakers discuss the film and TV industry, network, collaborate, and share ideas. The group fosters growth through critical conversations, learning, and reflection, making it a valuable resource for anyone involved in Zimbabwean film and television
Starlight TV Show
“Starlight” is a television show that profiles Zimbabwean celebrities offering an intimate look into their lives and experiences in the film industry. The show features in-depth interviews with prominent actors, directors, and other influential figures from the film industry. The show aims to inform and captivate audiences by providing insights into the lives, challenges, and triumphs of these celebrities.
