Harare, Zimbabwe – 12 September 2023 – The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe extends its warmest congratulations to Honorable Kirsty Coventry on her reappointment as the Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe. Minister Coventry’s dedication and commitment to the development of the arts and cultural sectors have been commendable, and we are thrilled to continue working with her in promoting and supporting the Zimbabwean film industry.
As the Secretary General of the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, Richard Tentone, expressed, “We are hopeful that Minister Coventry will fulfill President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s promises of establishing an arts development fund and implementing a film policy. As a former Olympic swimmer and world record holder, she is the most decorated Olympian from Africa. Her appointment as the Chairperson of the International Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission exemplifies her dedication to representing athletes worldwide.
