Harare, Zimbabwe – 1 September 2023 – Attention all film and television content creators! The Cinema Society of Zimbabwe and Nhaka Productions are pleased to announce an extension of the submission deadline for the highly anticipated Jakwara Short Film Competition. Filmmakers now have until September 10, 2023, to submit their entries.
The decision to extend the deadline was made in response to numerous requests from filmmakers who needed additional time to finalize their short films. Richard Tentone, the Secretary-General of the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe, stated, “We value the dedication and creativity of our content creators, and we want to ensure that everyone has a fair opportunity to participate in the Jakwara Short Film Competition. The deadline extension will allow filmmakers to present their best work.”
To participate in the competition, content creators are encouraged to physically submit their short films at the Cinema Society offices located at the Harare Main Post Office Building, Telone Shared Office Space, First Floor, Cubicle 13, with entrance through Nelson Mandela Avenue. This dedicated space provides a convenient location for filmmakers to deliver their submissions.
The Jakwara Short Film Competition seeks to showcase and celebrate the talent and storytelling abilities of Zimbabwean content creators. It serves as a platform to discover emerging voices and promote the diversity of narratives within the Zimbabwean film and television industry.
